Charlotte Gordon is the author of Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Her Daughter Mary Shelley, which won the National Book Critics Circle award in biography; Mistress Bradstreet: The Untold Story of America's First Poet; and The Woman Who Named God: Abraham's Dilemma and the Birth of Three Faiths. She has also published two books of poetry: When the Grateful Dead Came to St. Louis and Two Girls on a Raft. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, The Washington Post, The Cambridge Companion to Early American Poetry, and Harvard Magazine. She has been a frequent guest on NPR and the CBC, including spots on Weekend Edition and The Current. She is currently the Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Endicott College.
